Who is

Mustache-Rodeo?

Hi, I’m Angelo Ramos, a Black-Mexican artist based in Los Angeles and the creative force behind Mustache-Rodeo. Growing up on the outskirts of Denver, Colorado, I’ve always embraced my identity as a Western mountain man with a deep passion for music. Beginning at age five with classical piano, transitioning to trumpet in middle school, where I played in jazz and concert bands; but as a teenager, I stepped away from music, trying to fit into an environment that didn’t celebrate my heritage or creative spirit.

I then joined the military to take control of my future, funding my education and becoming the first in my family to attend college. In 2024, I moved to Los Angeles, where the city’s rich Black, Mexican, and Western influences ignited a life-changing realization: I am, and always have been, a musician. This revelation led to the creation of Mustache-Rodeo—a bold reclamation of identity, celebrating everything I once hid.

Mustache-Rodeo is a persona, rooted in the trickster archetype, black cowboys, and western tropes. Aiming to blend genres like rap, gospel, funk, ranchera, and jazz to reflect my cultural roots and renegade spirit. Inspired by artists like Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, and Vicente Fernández.

Now pursuing a degree in Music Entrepreneurship at Pasadena City College, I’m learning to produce, songwrite, and build a brand that embodies my vision. While I’m still crafting my sound, Mustache-Rodeo is a celebration of my journey—a testament to the power of embracing who you truly are.
